From The Preacherâs Heart
It has been an exciting week in social media. The two big hot topics this week have been the confederate flag and the Supreme Courtâs decision on gay marriage. Let me give you my two cents on the flag first. It is what you make it. To some the confederate flag is a symbol of heritage. It goes back to their southern roots. To some it is a symbol of rebellion. Hence the name you hear it referred to a lot, the rebel flag. To some it is a symbol of prejudice and oppression. It reminds them of the slavery that was so prominent in the beginning of this nationâs history. To me it is a distraction. It has become one more thing Satan can use to divide us and that is exactly what he is doing. Then there is the issue of homosexuality, another great division in our country. Get on Facebook and look at how this issue is dividing us. As Christians how should we react to this issue? My first emotion when I heard about this decision was fear. The Lordâs return is surely drawing closer and closer. You might ask, âPreacher, if you are ready why would you have fear?â I fear for those who are not ready. For those who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said He did not come into the world to condemn the world but through Him the world might be saved. Yet we use His name as some kind of weapon against the things we donât understand or agree with. We are being distracted by the greatest deceptor ever known, the devil himself. People are dying and going to Hell and we are distracted with the little stuff and not fulfilling the purpose of our calling. We are not stewarding the word of God as we should. The bottom line is this: I wonât stand in front of God in judgement for the racist or the homosexual. I will, however, stand in front of God for my stewardship of His word. Did I tell these people about Jesus? Did they see Christ in my deeds and actions? These are serious questions to ask ourselves. Be careful not to major on the minors. Love to all and have a blessed, Christ centered week!
