From The Preacherâs Heart
What an exciting day today! First of all, it is Fatherâs day. That special day of the year where we go out of our way to let all those dads out there know how much we appreciate them. Second, we have a baptism today! Praise the Lord! We are seeing God move in this church. Third, we are eating in the fellowship hall after service. It has been said there are two things Baptist do best: eat and take up offerings. Something this church does not lack is good cooks. Psalm 118:24 says âThis is the day which the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it.â Do you know the word rejoice is used fifty four times in the Psalms alone? So what does it mean to rejoice? Letâs look at the definition of the word: To experience joy and gladness in a high degree; to be exhilarated with lively and pleasurable sensations; to exult. Now that we know the definition of rejoice let me ask another question. What do we do on a bad day? The Bible makes it pretty clear; we are to rejoice in those as well. Easier said than done, right? It is easy to experience joy and gladness in a high degree when we are having a day like today. Come tomorrow, however, when things might be a little gloomier (perhaps from the Monday morning blues), it gets a little tougher. We have to remember that even in our bad days God has a purpose. We might not understand it but he is always at work. What it boils down to is your choice. It always boils down to our choices (that freewill can be a real booger). So when you wake up each morning ask yourself this question: Today am I going to choose better or bitter? Am I going to be the light and salt God called me to be? And instead of looking at all the negatives start looking at all the blessings God has given you. Love to all and I pray you have a blessed week.
In His service,
Bro Johnathan Taylor
