From The Preacherâs Heart
I donât know about you but I have had a busy and exhaustive week. Two close friends of mine have been going thru some very hard times in their lives, and like any good friend should, Cheryl and I have tried to be there for them. These are two different situations that have hardly any similarities. The one similarity they both have is they are both centered on family. That got me to thinking about how important family is. I have long said that I believe a personâs first ministry is his or her family. Sometimes situations like these make you stop and think, âAm I really living that philosophy?â The only way I can have an effective ministry in my home is it has to be Christ centered. It would be easy for me to get focused on Ethanâs medical issues instead of Christ. I love the two girls in my life, Cheryl and Sarah, with everything in me. However, my love for Christ has to come first. You see, of these two situations, one involves misplaced worship and the other a straying from a Christ centered family and focus on external things. These can be devastating to a family because they get out of Godâs design, God, family, church. I encourage you this week to evaluate your family and ask the tough question â Am I putting Christ first?â Cheryl and I have few arguments, but when we do it usually is because one of us is getting selfish or hard headed and not stopping to see what God wants from us. WWJD, what would Jesus do? That works in families as well. Put Him first and see what happens!
In His service,
