>From The Preacherâs Heart
Can you imagine being one of Jesus disciples during those last few days? Just imagine, you have just spent over three years listening to this man, following Him all over the place, and watching him heal person after person. You, like Peter, have undeniably accepted Him for who He is; the Son of God. Through Him your life has been changed in such a way you will never be the same. Then it happens. You are in the garden of Gethsemane when the Roman soldiers come. No big deal, right? After all, He is God incarnate. He should have no problem dealing with this. Then He stands before Pontius Pilate and doesnât even offer a word in His own defense. You are probably getting a little rattled by now. Then the beatings come and finally the crucifixion. At this point you are devastated. Your mind is reeling. You ask yourself, âwas it all a lie?â Did I spend the last three years following a charlatan? But then something unheard of happens. The man you witnessed on that cross is alive! How could this be? Surely He IS the Son of God! Then you start to ponder the question, âwhy did He do that?â Then it dawns on you. Because He loves you! He loves you enough He took your place. You realize it should have been me on that cross. Wow! Exhilarating isnât it? The God of the universe loves you that much.
Now do this. Take John 3:16 and make it personal. âFor God so loved my name, that he gave his only begotten Son, and if my name believes in Him, my name will not perish but have everlasting life.â
Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!
In His service,
Bro Johnathan Taylor
