From The Preacherâs Heart
Nothing deep and profound this morning, just a heartfelt thank you. I know you are praying for me and my family and that means a lot to us. Ethan is doing much better. We are still waiting on some test results but are trusting that will be alright as well. I was thinking about something the other day. I just donât understand how someone who claims to be a Christian doesnât think they can benefit by going to church. Maybe you get bored with the music. Maybe the preacher seems as though he will never stop talking. But to have a group of people stand in the gap for you, to encourage and exhort you, to love you when you are not very lovable, that is something anyone could benefit from. I guess thatâs why I get a little upset when I hear someone complain about the service. We do not exist to play to your emotions, but rather to help each other to grow spiritually. To help each other grow and discover our gifts so that we might be more effective in the ministry God has set before us. Our gifts are important. My gifts might not be the same as yours. But Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians that no matter what your gifts are they are no good without love. That is the common denominator that all gifts have to share. I am so glad I serve in a body that understands that. I see that more and more all the time with this church. My prayer is that God will continue to send people to Eastside and that they will see the sweet spirit of love that is so prevalent here. Again, thank you all for all that you do to His glory!
In His service,
Bro Johnathan Taylor
