From The Preacherâs Heart
Stop praying. That was the title for session one of our new Wednesday night study, âCrazy Love.â I have to admit when I first saw this heading I was taken a back a little. However, when I started reading what the author had to say it started making sense. What he was trying to convey was remember who you are talking to. Take a moment and reflect on Godâs majesty before just rushing into the throne room. I have heard it said that if you do something for 25 days straight it will naturally become a habit. Something you do without even really thinking about it. I think that sometimes happens in our prayer life. We pray the same things over and over until it just becomes something we do without even thinking about it. Think about this: we view the âGod is greatâ prayer before a meal as a childish thing most of us grow out of. Do we really though? That prayer is the same thing over and over. I think a lot of us as adults get that way with our prayer life. If we are not careful our prayers just become vain repetitions that we put no thought into. God desires an intimate, personal relationship with us. That means God would like for us to just sit down and open up to Him. He wants us to have real conversations with Him. Talk to Him about the things you wouldnât talk to anyone else about. Remember, He is your creator. He knows you better than you know yourself so there is no sense hiding anything from Him. When we start getting real with our relationship with God I believe we will start getting real with our relationships with others. I have often said I am not what I would label a prayer warrior. I have seen some mighty prayer warriors and I donât fit into that category. I am starting to realize though that every one of us has that potential to be prayer warriors if we will just let go and let Him do His work in us. Love to all and I pray you have a blessed week.
In His service,
